Introspection is a beautiful thing, and I consider reflection a vital component of healthy living. At a certain point, though, I realized I spent more time and energy thinking about my experiences than actually creating them.
This is a quick little poem to inspire ACTION!
Cerebral Living
I think so much about life
I almost forget to live it
It’s like I analyze love so deeply
I almost forget to give it
And while it’s not wrong to analyze these patterns I exhibit
at a certain point I gotta say,
“Child, just get on with it!”
Why learn the rules if you never play the game?
Awareness and action are far from the same
A year from now you’ll wish you had started today
So set aside that playbook
and get out there
and play
POWER MOVE: ACT today. Take one small step towards one of your goals. Don’t second guess yourself, over-analyze, or make a big show of it. Just DO it.
Tip: let this be a small step to maximize your chances of success.
Maybe you put your tennis shoes by the door so you remember to exercise.
Maybe you text a friend that you’ve been meaning to reconnect with.
Maybe you revamp your resume.
Whatever it is - DO something (don’t just journal about it). For this exercise, try to resist the temptation to analyze why you’re blocked. Yes, that is so healthy and important to do (at times).
To build momentum, though, try to get out of your head and into your ACTION!
